- ʿAwn ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to me, saying: “Aḥmad ibn Abī al-Ḥawārī narrated to me from Abū Sulaymān, who said: ʿUmar commented on Allah’s words, ‘Those are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for God-fearingness’ (Sūrah al-Ḥujurāt, 49:3): ‘He has purged their hearts of worldly cravings.’”
١٤٥ - وَحَدَّثَنِي عَوْنُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْحَوَارِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ ﷿: " ﴿أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ امْتَحَنَ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ لِلتَّقْوَى﴾ [الحجرات: ٣] "، قَالَ: «أَذْهَبَ بِالشَّهَوَاتِ مِنْهَا»
