ʿAlī ibn Jaʿfar al-Aḥmar narrated to us; he said: Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, who said: I heard Ibrāhīm al-Taymī say, “I spent thirty days without tasting any food or drink, except for a single grape that my family pressed upon me, and it upset my stomach.” Al-Aʿmash added—so I think he said—“Nor was I intentionally withholding myself from any need I desired.”

ʿAlī narrated to us; he said: Isḥāq ibn Manṣūr narrated to us, from one of his teachers, who said: It was said to al-Aʿmash, “Should we believe him?” He replied, “If he told me that he had come down from the sky, I would believe him.”
