104 – Hārūn ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: Siyyar narrated to us; he said: Jaʿfar narrated to us:
We were in the company of Mālik ibn Dīnār when Hishām ibn Ḥassān arrived and said, “Where is Abū Yaḥyā?” ⦗80⦘ We replied, “At the grocer’s.” He said, “Come, let us go to him.” I then happened to glance at Hishām, whereupon Mālik said to him:
“O Hishām, I give that grocer one dirham and two dānaqs every month, and each month I take sixty loaves from him—two loaves every night. I receive them while they are still hot, and their very warmth serves as their relish. I have read in the Psalms of David (peace be upon him): ‘My God, You have seen my concerns while You are exalted above the heights; so look—what are your concerns, O Hishām?’”
