75 - Hāshim ibn al-Ḥārith narrated to us; he said: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAmr al-Raqqī narrated to us, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUqayl, from Jābir, who said:

“I performed the late-afternoon (ʿAṣr) prayer with Abū Bakr, then accompanied him to his house. He said to his wife, Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays, ‘Do you have any food?’ She replied, ‘No, by Allah, we have nothing.’ He said, ‘Look again.’ She repeated, ‘No, by Allah, we have nothing.’

So he seized a ewe that had given birth earlier that day—he owned no more than that single sheep—milked it, poured the milk into a cooking pot, and told his maidservant to cook it. It was then brought to us; he ate and we ate. After that he prayed and we prayed, none of us—him included—having renewed our ablution.”
