Al-Ashʿarī said (1) \ 140:
“The Zaydīs unanimously agree (2) that all those guilty of major sins will be punished in the Fire, (3) remaining there eternally and forever, never to be brought out of it or kept away from it.” (4)
[The Rāfida’s Views on the Threat of Punishment]
He said (5):
“The Rāfida differ concerning the threat of punishment, and they fall into two groups. The first group affirms the threat against those who disagree with them and says that they will be punished, (6) but does (7) not affirm the threat of punishment (8) for anyone who professes their doctrine. They claim that Allah (9) will admit them to Paradise and that, if (10) He admits them to the Fire, He will bring them out of it. Regarding this, they related (11) from their imams that whatever sins lie between Allah and the Shiʿa, [their imams ask Allah on their behalf, and He pardons them; whatever lies between the Shiʿa] (12) and the imams, the imams overlook; and whatever wrongs lie between the Shiʿa and other people, their imams intercede for them until those people pardon them.” (13)
