[Citing Some of These Hadiths]
(1) been cited—such as his words in the authentic hadith: “When the woman (2) came to him to ask about a matter, she said, ‘What if I do not find you?’—apparently meaning his death. He replied, ‘Go to Abū Bakr.’” (3)
And likewise (4), his words—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—(5) to Aisha [may Allah be pleased with her] (6) in the authentic [hadith]: “Call your father and brother to me so that I may write a document for Abū Bakr, thereby preventing any disagreement after me.” Then he said, “Allah and the believers will accept none but Abū Bakr.” (7)
Likewise, he said in the authentic [hadith] (8): “I saw (9) myself as though I were at a well, drawing water from it. Ibn Abī Quhāfa then took the bucket and drew one or two bucketfuls. There was some weakness in his drawing—may Allah forgive him. Then Ibn al-Khattāb took it, and it became a large bucket. I have never seen a man of such exceptional prowess [among men] (10) draw as powerfully as he did, until the people had watered their camels fully and brought them to rest (11) at the watering place.” (12)
