Minhaj as-SunnahIbn Taimiya

And Allah Most High said:

“The disbelieving chiefs of his people said, ‘We see you as nothing but a human being like ourselves, nor do we see anyone following you but the lowliest among us, as it appears to us.’” [Surah Hūd: 27]

He said concerning the people of Sālih:

“The arrogant chiefs of his people said to those who were oppressed—to those among them who believed—‘Do you know that Sālih has been sent by his Lord?’ They replied, ‘Indeed, we believe in what he has been sent with.’ Those who were arrogant said, ‘Indeed, we disbelieve in what you believe in.’” [Surah al-A‘rāf: 75, 76].

The two Sahīh collections relate:

“Heraclius asked Abū Sufyān ibn Harb about the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying, ‘Do the nobles follow him, or the weak?’ He replied, ‘Rather, the weak.’ Heraclius said, ‘They are the followers of the messengers.’” (1).

Even supposing that al-Siddīq had been among the oppressed, like ‘Ammār, Suhayb, and Bilāl, this would not have detracted from the perfection of his faith and piety, just as it did not detract from their faith and piety. The most perfect of Allah’s creation in His sight are those who are most mindful of Him.

Yet the words of the Rāfidah are of the same kind as those of the polytheists of the age of ignorance: they show partisan loyalty to lineage and ancestry, not to religion, and find fault with a person for things that do not undermine his faith or piety. All this belongs to the practices of the age of ignorance. This is why such ignorance is so evident among them: they resemble the disbelievers in ways in which they differ from the people of faith and Islam.

His statement:

“Al-Siddīq was a tailor after embracing Islam, and when he assumed leadership of the Muslims, the people prevented him from tailoring,”

is an obvious lie, which everyone knows to be false, though there would be no disgrace in it if
