Minhaj as-SunnahIbn Taimiya

In Sahīh Muslim, Abū al-Dardā’ relates a report similar to (1) the hadith of Abū Hurayrah (2).

Also in Sahīh Muslim, Abū Dharr reports that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Every morning, charity is due for every bone and joint of each of you. Every glorification of Allah is charity, every praise of Him is charity, every declaration that there is no god but Allah is charity, and every declaration of His greatness is charity. Enjoining what is right is charity, and forbidding what is wrong is charity. Two units of the midmorning prayer suffice for all of this.” (3)

[Section: The Rāfidī’s fourteenth claim—that ‘Uthmān did things that were impermissible—and the response to him]

Section

The Rāfidī said: (4)

“Fourteenth: ‘Uthmān did things that were impermissible, to the point that all the Muslims condemned his conduct. They were more united in agreeing to kill him than they had been in agreeing to his caliphate and the caliphates of his two companions.”

(1) ن, س: min (from); this is a corrupt reading. (2) The hadith narrated by Abū al-Dardā’, may Allah be pleased with him, appears in Muslim, p. 499 (Book of Travellers’ Prayer and Its Shortening, chapter on the recommendation to offer the midmorning prayer…), and Sunan Abī Dāwūd, 2/89 (Book of Witr, chapter on offering Witr before sleeping). (3) The hadith narrated by Abū Dharr al-Ghifārī, may Allah be pleased with him, appears—with differences in wording—in Muslim, 1/498–499 (Book of Travellers’ Prayer and Its Shortening, chapter on the recommendation to offer the midmorning prayer…), and Sunan Abī Dāwūd, 2/36–37 (Book of Voluntary Prayer, chapter on the midmorning prayer), and 4/489–490 (Book of Manners, chapter on removing harmful objects from the road). The commentator, may Allah have mercy on him, said: “Sulāmā (bone or joint), which follows the same vowel pattern as khuzāmā (lavender), here means every bone and joint on which movement depends and through which flexion and extension occur.” (4) In (ك), p. 197 (م).
