As for his statement:
“The supplications transmitted from him would fill all one’s time.”
Most of them are fabrications falsely attributed to him. He was of far too high a standing to offer such supplications, which were not befitting his circumstances or those of the Companions. None of them has any chain of transmission. The supplications authentically transmitted from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, are the finest supplications anyone can offer, and they are used by the best members of this nation, from the earliest generations to the latest.
Likewise, his statement:
“He would perform a thousand rak'ahs every day and night.”
This too is a falsehood, and there would be nothing praiseworthy about it. The Prophet’s prayers, peace and blessings be upon him, over the course of a day and night totalled forty rak'ahs, both obligatory and voluntary. Someone charged with governing the Muslims and managing the affairs of the people and his family would not have enough time for a thousand rak'ahs, unless his prayer consisted of pecking like a crow. That is the prayer of the hypocrites, from which Allah preserved Alī.
As for the nights of Siffīn, what is authentically established is that he recited the words of remembrance that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had taught Fātimah. He said, “I have never omitted them since I heard them from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.”
He was asked, “Not even on the night (1) of Siffīn?”
He replied, “Not even on the night of Siffīn. I remembered them during the hours before dawn and recited them.” (2)
What he related about iron being removed from Alī’s body is also a lie, for Alī was never known to have
