Minhaj as-SunnahIbn Taimiya

a group of jurists relate, namely the hadith:

“Do not do that, O rosy-cheeked one, for it causes vitiligo”;

and the hadith:

“The land’s zakat is its produce”;

and the hadith:

“Combining a sale with a stipulation was forbidden, as was selling an enslaved person under an emancipation contract, one designated for emancipation upon the owner’s death, or a bondwoman who had borne her owner a child”;

and the hadith:

“It was forbidden to pay the miller with a measure of the flour he mills”;

and the hadith:

“The tithe and land tax are not both imposed on a Muslim”;

and the hadith:

“Three things are obligatory for me but voluntary for you: the witr prayer, the sacrifice, and the two units before the dawn prayer”;

and the hadith:

“When traveling, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, would sometimes perform the prayer in full and sometimes shorten it”;

and the hadith:

“A hand may be amputated only for a theft worth ten dirhams”;

and the hadith:

“No bridal dower may be less than ten dirhams”;

and the hadith:

“There is a distinction between divorce and manumission with respect to the ‘if Allah wills’ qualification”;

and the hadith:

“The minimum duration of menstruation is three days and the maximum is ten”;

and the hadith:

“He forbade the ‘truncated’ prayer”;

and the hadith:

“Semen and blood must be washed from a garment”;

and the hadith:

“Ablution is required because of what exits the body, not what enters it”;

and the hadith:

“He would raise his hands at the beginning of the prayer and not raise them again”;

and similar(1) hadiths(2), some of which a group of jurists accept as true and upon which they base rulings concerning what is lawful and forbidden. Hadith scholars, however, unanimously agree that they are lies about the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—fabrications (against him)(3). The learned among the jurists likewise know this.

The same is true of hadiths that many ascetics relate and believe to be true, such as their claim(4):

(1) N, M: “an example of.” (2) N, M, S: “the hadith.” (3) “Against him” is added in M. (4) N, M, S: “his statement:”
