And He says:
“The likeness of those who take protectors besides Allah is that of a spider that builds a house. Yet the frailest of all houses is surely the spider’s house, if only they knew.”
[Surah al-Ankabūt: 41]
And He says:
“We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve because they have associated with Allah that for which He has sent down no authority.”
[Surah Āl Imrān: 151].
The Christians are marked by manifest polytheism, as Allah Most High says:
“They have taken their rabbis and monks as lords besides Allah, as well as the Messiah, son of Mary, though they were commanded only to worship One God. There is no god but Him. Glorified is He above what they associate with Him.”
[Surah al-Tawbah: 31].
Likewise, those extremists among the Shia and ascetics who resemble them are marked by polytheism and excess, [just as the Christians are marked by polytheism and excess] (1). The Jews are marked by arrogance, and the arrogant are punished with humiliation. Allah Most High says:
“Humiliation has been imposed upon them wherever they are found, unless they are protected by a covenant from Allah and a covenant from people. They have incurred wrath from Allah, and destitution has been imposed upon them. That is because they disbelieved in Allah’s signs and killed the prophets without right. That is because they disobeyed and habitually transgressed.”
[Surah Āl Imrān: 112].
Allah Most High also says:
“Is it then that every time a messenger came to you with what your souls did not desire, you acted arrogantly? Some you denied, and others you killed.”
[Surah al-Baqarah: 87]
Thus, their denial and killing of the prophets (2) was an act of arrogance.
The Rāfidah resemble the Jews in one respect and the Christians in another. Like the Christians, they are marked by polytheism, excess, and belief in falsehood; and like the Jews, by cowardice, arrogance, envy, and denial of the truth.
