but instead rose in obedience to his Lord, placing his trust in Him and remaining steadfast for His sake, as He commanded him:

“Arise and warn.
Magnify your Lord.
Purify your garments.
Shun all defilement.
Do not give, seeking to gain more.
And remain steadfast for your Lord.”

[Surah al-Muddaththir: 2–7]

He also said:

“Worship Him and place your trust in Him.”

[Surah Hūd: 123]

Thus, whoever claims that the Prophet—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—asked Allah, Mighty and Majestic, to strengthen him through any person, just as Moses asked to be strengthened through Aaron, has fabricated a lie against the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—and denied him his due. There is no doubt that Rāfidism stems from polytheism, heresy, and hypocrisy; sometimes this is manifest [to them] (1) within it (2), and sometimes it remains hidden.

The Fifteenth Point:

It may be said: The most that the verse establishes is that believers are obligated to show loyalty to Allah, His Messenger, and the believers, and hence to show loyalty to Alī. There is no doubt that loyalty to Alī is obligatory upon every believer, just as every believer is obligated to show loyalty to believers like him.

Allah Most High said:

“But if the two of you cooperate against him, then indeed Allah is his Supporter, as are Gabriel and the righteous believers.”

[Surah al-Tahrīm: 4]

Allah thus made clear that every righteous believer is (3) a supporter of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—(4), just as Allah is his Supporter and Gabriel is his supporter. Yet the fact that a righteous believer is a supporter of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—(5), just as Allah is his Supporter and Gabriel is his supporter, does not mean that (6) the righteous believers exercise authority over the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—or control his affairs.

Allah Most High also said:

“The believing men and believing women are allies of one another.”

(1) The word lahum (“for them”) is omitted from (N), (S), and (B). (2) The word fīhi (“in it”) is omitted from (S) and (B). (3) The words fa-huwa (“then it is”) are omitted from (S) and (B). (4) This appears only in (N) and is omitted from (M), (S), and (B). (5) This appears only in (N) and is omitted from (M), (S), and (B). (6) (B) alone reads lā an yakūna (“not to be”), which is erroneous.
