which is hidden only from one whose heart Allah has blinded; and that the proofs establishing the prophethood of the Messenger are true, that the Quran is true, and that the religion of Islam is true—all of which contradict what he has cited as proofs. For when a discerning person examines the ultimate import of what he claims as proofs and considers its necessary implications, he finds that it undermines faith, the Quran, and the Messenger.
This is because the foundation of Rāfidism (1) was laid by a group of heretical hypocrites whose aim was to assail the Quran, the Messenger, and the religion of Islam. They therefore fabricated hadiths which, if accepted, would impugn the religion of Islam, and passed them off (2) on various people. Some were driven by desire and ignorance, so they accepted them because of their desires without examining their true nature. Others were capable of reflection and pondered them, only to find that they impugned [the truth of] (3) Islam. Such a person therefore accepted what they entailed and used them to impugn the religion of Islam (4), either because his religious beliefs were corrupt or because he believed these reports to be authentic and they undermined what he had believed about the religion (5) of Islam.
For this reason, most heretics entered through this door. They seized upon the lies transmitted by the Rāfidis to assail Islam, and these became specious doubts for anyone who did not [know] that they were false (6), yet had (7) knowledge of the true nature of Islam.
Many groups among the Ismailis and Nusayrīs went astray, as did other heretics
