entails will. Whoever loves something must, through his love for it, will some of the things connected with it.
For this reason, Allah Most High created His creatures for a wise purpose (1), and that wise purpose is both willed and loved. Thus, as stated earlier, He created what He created for an end that He wills and loves. Glorified is He, He loves His believing servants and therefore wills to show them kindness; they love Him and therefore desire to worship Him (2) [and obey Him].
And [it is established] in the two Sahih collections (3) that the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said:
“None of you believes until I am more beloved to him than his child, his father, and all mankind.” (4)
Every believer finds in his heart a love for the Messenger that he does not find (5) for anyone else. Thus, if he were to hear someone he loves—one of his relatives or friends (6)—reviling the Messenger, it would become easy for him to show enmity toward that person, shun him, and even kill him, out of love for the Messenger. If he did not do so, he would not be a believer.
Allah Most High says:
“You will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they are their fathers, their sons, their brothers, or their kindred. Those are the ones in whose hearts He has inscribed faith and whom He has strengthened with a spirit from Him.”
