And in the two Sahih collections, Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said (1):
“Allah has pardoned my community for what they think to themselves, so long as they neither speak of it nor act upon it.” (2)
The two Sahih collections also relate from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said:
“When the muezzin gives the call to prayer, Satan retreats, breaking wind noisily so that he does not hear the call. When the call is over, he returns. When the second call to prayer is made, he retreats—meaning the iqāma—and when the second call is over, he returns, until he intrudes (3) between a person and his own mind, saying, ‘Remember this; remember that,’ mentioning things he had not recalled before, until the man becomes confused (4), not knowing how many units of prayer he has performed. If any of you experiences this, let him perform two prostrations.” (5)
