Minhaj as-SunnahIbn Taimiya

“We would never punish until We had sent a messenger.”

[Surah al-Isrāʾ: 15]

And He Most High says concerning the Fire:

“Whenever a group is cast into it, its keepers will ask them, ‘Did no warner come to you?’ They will reply, ‘Yes, a warner did come to us, but we denied him and said, “Allah has revealed nothing. You are only in grave error.”’”

[Surah al-Mulk: 8–9]

Thus, in universal terms, Glorified and Exalted is He, He has informed us that whenever a group is cast into it, its keepers will ask whether a warner had come to them(1), and they will acknowledge that a warner had indeed come to them. Therefore, there will be no group entering the Fire to whom a warner had not come; whoever received no warner will not enter the Fire.

Allah Most High also said to Iblis:

“I will surely fill Hell with you and with all those among them who follow you.”

[Surah Sād: 85]

Glorified is He, He has sworn that He will fill it with Iblis and his followers. His followers are only those who obey him; therefore, whoever commits no sin has not obeyed him and is not among those with whom the Fire will be filled(2). Once it has been filled with his followers, there will be no room in it for anyone else.

It is established in the two Sahīhs, in the hadiths of Abū Hurayra and Anas ibn Mālik, that the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said:

“People will continue to be cast into the Fire, and it will say, ‘Is there any more?’ This will continue until the Lord of Might places His Foot in it—or, according to one narration, places His Foot upon it—whereupon it will say, ‘Enough, enough,’ and it will contract upon itself.”(3)

That is, it will say, “Enough for me
