Minhaj as-SunnahIbn Taimiya

Allah Most High says:

“Indeed, whoever submits himself wholly to Allah while doing good will have his reward with his Lord. There will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.”

[Surah al-Baqarah: 112]

And He Most High says:

“Whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger will be with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor: the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous. What excellent companions they are!”

[Surah al-Nisā: 69]

And He Most High says:

“Hasten toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the God-fearing—those who spend in prosperity and adversity, restrain their anger, and pardon people; and Allah loves those who do good. They are those who, upon committing a shameful deed or wronging themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins—and who forgives sins except Allah?—and do not knowingly persist in what they have done. The reward of such people is forgiveness from their Lord and Gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will abide forever. How excellent is the reward of those who labor!”

[Surah Āl Imrān: 133–136]

(1) These people are in Paradise, although the love of Alī that they mentioned was not stipulated as a condition for them.

Likewise, He Most High says:

“Indeed, humankind was created impatient: distressed when touched by evil, withholding when touched by good—except those who pray.”

[Surah al-Maārij: 19–22]

(2) continuing to His words:

“They will be honored in Gardens.”

[Surah al-Maārij: 35]

The same applies to similar passages: love of Alī was not stipulated as a condition. Several delegations came to the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and believed in him, and so did

(1) N and M: “prepared for the God-fearing” through “How excellent is the reward of those who labor!” (2) These verses appear in full only in A and B. All other manuscripts have: “impatient” through “except those who pray.”
