The Rāfidī said (4): Among them is the report narrated by Ahmad ibn Hanbal from Anas ibn Mālik, who said:
“We said to Salmān, ‘Ask (5) the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—who his successor is.’ Salmān then asked him (6), ‘O Messenger of Allah, who is your successor?’ He replied (7), ‘O Salmān, who was Moses’ successor?’
“He answered, ‘Joshua son of Nun.’
“He said (8), ‘Indeed, (9) my successor and heir—the one who will settle (10) my debt and fulfill what I have promised—is Alī ibn Abī Tālib.’” (11).

: وَمِنْهَا مَا رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ،
قَالَ:
«قُلْنَا لِسَلْمَانَ: سَلِ

النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - مَنْ وَصِّيُهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ

سَلْمَانُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَنْ وَصِيُّكَ؟ فَقَالَ

: يَا سَلْمَانُ، مَنْ كَانَ وَصِيَّ مُوسَى؟
فَقَالَ:
يُوشَعُ بْنُ نُونٍ. قَالَ

: فَإِنَّ

وَصِيِّيَ وَوَارِثِي يَقْضِي

دَيْنِي وَيُنْجِزُ مَوْعِدِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ»
