upon them has thereby altered and changed the religion of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, just as the Jews and Christians altered the religion of the prophets.
If it is said:
“What is meant is that blessings should be invoked upon the family of Muhammad, and they are among them.”
The reply is:
The family of Muhammad includes(1) Banū Hāshim and his wives, as well as Banū al-Muttalib according to one(2) of the two opinions. Yet the Imāmiyyah condemn most of these people. They(3) condemn the descendants of al-Abbās—especially their caliphs—even though they belong to the family of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. They also condemn those who affirm allegiance to Abū Bakr and Umar. The majority of Banū Hāshim affirm allegiance to Abū Bakr and Umar, and none of sound lineage among Banū Hāshim disavows them except a small number(4) in comparison with the great number of Banū Hāshim. Those among them who possess knowledge [and religious commitment](5) affirm allegiance to Abū Bakr and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both.
What is astonishing about these Rāfidah is that they claim to venerate the family of Muhammad, upon him be the finest blessings and peace, yet they worked to bring the unbelieving Tatars(6) to Baghdad, the seat of the caliphate, whereupon the unbelievers killed among the Muslims a number that none but Allah Most High can reckon [from Banū Hāshim and others].(7) In the regions around Baghdad, they killed one million, eight hundred thousand, and seventy-odd thousand people,(8) killed the Abbasid caliph, and took captive the Hashemite women and the children of the Hashemites.
