could the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—single out his family by declaring that Allah’s wrath intensifies against those who shed their blood?
Allah has forbidden the taking of a life except by right. So why would Allah’s wrath intensify against one who lawfully killed another, whether the person killed was a Hāshimite or a non-Hāshimite?
If, however, he was killed unlawfully, then: “Whoever kills (1) a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, abiding therein; Allah is wrathful toward him, has cursed him, and has prepared for him a tremendous punishment.” The grounds that render blood inviolable or permit its shedding apply equally to Banū Hāshim and others. No one would attribute such words to the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—except a hypocrite who impugns his prophethood, or an ignorant person who does not understand the justice with which he—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—was sent.
Likewise, there is his statement:
“Whoever harms me through my kindred.”
For causing harm to the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—is forbidden, whether through his kindred, his Ummah, his Sunnah, or anything else (2).
