As for the hadith he narrated and his statement (1): “The killer of al-Husayn is in a coffin of fire, bearing half the punishment of the inhabitants of the Fire. His hands and feet have been bound (2) with chains of fire, and he is cast headlong into the Fire until he reaches the very bottom of Hell. He emits such a stench that the inhabitants (3) of the Fire seek refuge with their Lord from its foulness, and he shall abide therein forever”—to the end of the report.
This is one of the reports fabricated by liars who feel no shame at recklessly lying about the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace (4). This excessive extremism is countered by the extremism of the Nāsibīs, who claim that al-Husayn was a rebel and that it was permissible to kill him, citing the Prophet’s words—may Allah bless him and grant him peace: “Whoever comes to you while your affairs are united under one man, seeking to divide your community, strike his neck with the sword, whoever he may be.” This was narrated by Muslim (7).
Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamāʿah reject the extremism of both groups and say that al-Husayn
