and His Messenger; none of them intended to dishonor the Kaaba (1).
Whoever claims that any of Allah’s creatures intended to fire a catapult at the Kaaba or throw excrement at it (2) has lied. This never occurred, either in the pre-Islamic era or in Islam (3). Even those who were [disbelievers] (4) and did not revere the Kaaba—such as the People of the Elephant and the Qarmatians—did not do this. How, then, could the Muslims who revered the Kaaba have done so?! (5)
Moreover, even if it were assumed—Allah forbid—that someone intended to dishonor the Kaaba and was capable of doing so, he would have no need to fire a catapult at it. It could be demolished without that, just as it will be demolished at the end of time, when Allah wills to bring about the Resurrection. He will then cause His House to be demolished and remove His Word from the earth, so that no Quran remains in written copies or in people’s hearts. He will send a pleasant wind that will take (6) the soul of every believing man and woman, after which no good will remain on earth.
Its destruction will take place through the man with the two slender shins being given power over it, as related in the two Sahih collections from Abū Hurayra—may Allah be pleased with him—that the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said:
“The Kaaba will be destroyed by a man with two slender shins from Abyssinia.” (7)
