Islam? Whoever says this is a disbeliever, as is necessarily known from the religion. On this basis, the Shia are continually committing sins, so every one of them would be worse than Iblīs.
Then, if the Khawārij were to say, “Ali committed a sin and is therefore worse than Iblīs,” the Rāfidah (1) would have no argument except the claim that he was infallible (2). Yet they cannot establish proof against the Khawārij for his faith, his imamate, and his uprightness, so how could they establish proof against them for his infallibility? Ahl al-Sunnah, however, can establish proof for his faith and imamate, because the evidence invoked by the Rāfidah can be refuted and countered by an equivalent argument, thereby invalidating their appeal to it.
Moreover, if evidence establishes the position of the majority, which is indicated by the Quran—as in the words of Allah Most High:
“Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred.”
Surah Tā Hā—it would follow that Adam was worse than Iblīs.
In short, the implications of this claim and the corruption it entails are beyond enumeration.
Second, this statement is made without any proof; indeed, it is false in itself. Why do you say, “Worse than Iblīs is one who did not surpass him in former obedience, yet raced alongside him in the field of disobedience”? (3)
No one runs alongside Iblīs in the arena of all his disobedience. It is therefore inconceivable that any human being could equal Iblīs in his disobedience by leading all people astray and seducing them.
As for Iblīs’s former obedience, it was nullified by his subsequent disbelief (4), (* for apostasy
