the imamate, they will realize that they had never truly loved Alī. Rather, in reality, they are among those who hate Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—most intensely. Indeed, they hate anyone possessing the qualities that Alī embodied more perfectly than others—namely, affirming the imamate of the three and recognizing their superiority. Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—regarded them as superior and affirmed their imamate. Thus, they are conclusively shown to hate Alī (1).
This also makes clear the hadith narrated by Muslim in his Sahīh from Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: “The unlettered Prophet made this solemn covenant (2) with me: (3) ‘None but a believer loves me, and none but a hypocrite hates me.’” (4)
If this is reliably preserved and authentically established from the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—the Rāfidah do not love Alī as he truly was. Rather, their love is of the same kind as the Jews’ love for Moses and the Christians’ love for Jesus (5). Indeed, the Rāfidah hate Alī’s traits and qualities, just as the Jews and Christians hate the traits of Moses and Jesus. For they hate anyone who affirms the prophethood of Muhammad—peace and blessings be upon him—(55): (6) although both of them affirmed it (7) [May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon them all] (8).
