from the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—and it is not found in any of the well-known books of hadith, nor does it have any known chain of transmission (1) back to the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—whether authentic or fair.
Just as we testify that Fātimah is in Paradise and that Allah is pleased with her, we likewise testify to the same concerning Abū Bakr, Umar, Uthmān, Alī (2), Talhah, al-Zubayr, Saīd (3), and Abd al-Rahmān [ibn Awf] (4). We also testify that (5) Allah Most High has declared His pleasure with them in more than one passage, as in His words:
“And the first forerunners among the Emigrants and the Helpers, and those who followed them with excellence—Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him.”
[Surah al-Tawbah: 100]
And His words:
“Allah was certainly pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you beneath the tree.”
[Surah al-Fath: 18]
It is firmly established that the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—died while pleased with them. Anyone with whom Allah and His Messenger are pleased cannot be harmed by the anger of any created being against him (6), whoever that may be. Rather, the pleasure of anyone (7) with whom Allah is pleased and who is pleased with Allah accords with Allah’s pleasure. Since Allah is pleased with him, he is in harmony with what pleases Allah (8); and since he is pleased with Allah, Allah’s judgment (9) accords with what pleases him,
