“If you do not know, that is a calamity;
but if you do know, the calamity is greater.”
(* As for the verses he recited, the following has been composed in response:
“If you wish to embrace for yourself a creed
that will bring you near and save you from the Fire,
then follow the Book of Allah and the Sunnah (1) conveyed
from Allah’s Messenger by upright transmitters (2).
Forsake the religion of the Rāfidīs (3) and the innovations
whose advocate leads you to the Fire and disgrace.
Follow the Companions of the Messenger, for they are
stars of guidance, by whose light the night traveler finds his way.
Turn away from the path of the Rāfidīs, for it is founded
upon disbelief—like a structure raised on the brink of a crumbling bank.
The two paths (4) are either guidance and happiness,
or misery coupled with the misguidance of disbelievers.
Which of our two parties (5) is more deserving of His protection
and better guided when the Creator passes judgment?
Is it one who reviles the Messenger’s Companions, opposes the Book,
and pays no heed to firmly established reports (6),
or one who follows revelation, pursues the way of the Companions,
and loves the Prophet’s pure relatives (7)?”
