“[Indeed,] Allah is beautiful and loves beauty.” (1), and he said:
“Indeed, Allah loves His concessions to be taken, just as He hates acts of disobedience to be committed.” (2)
And he said:
“Indeed, Allah loves the God-fearing, self-sufficient, inconspicuous servant.” (3), “Indeed, Allah is pleased for you
(1) “Indeed” is omitted from N and M. The hadith, with some variation in wording, is narrated from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd and other Companions—may Allah be pleased with them—in Muslim, 1:93, Book of Faith, chapter “The Prohibition and Explanation of Pride.” It begins: “No one who has an atom’s weight of pride in his heart will enter Paradise.” It is also found in *al-Musnad*, al-Halabī ed., 4:133, 134, 151.
(2) A and B read: “just as His obligatory commands are observed.” The hadith is narrated from Ibn ʿUmar—may Allah be pleased with them both—in *al-Musnad*, al-Maʿārif ed., 8:170. Shaykh Ahmad Shākir—may Allah have mercy on him—said: “Its chain of transmission is authentic.” The hadith also appears in *Majmaʿ al-Zawā’id*, 3:162, where al-Haythamī said: “Ahmad narrated it, and its transmitters are transmitters of *al-Sahīh*; it was also narrated by al-Bazzār and al-Tabarānī in *al-Awsat*, and its chain of transmission is sound.” Al-Albānī included it in *Sahīh al-Jāmiʿ al-Saghīr*, 2:146. Al-Suyūtī listed its sources as follows: (Hm) Ahmad; (Hb) Ibn Hibbān in his *Sahīh*; and (Hb) al-Bayhaqī in *Shuʿab al-Īmān*, on the authority of Ibn ʿUmar. Al-Albānī graded the hadith authentic.
