{“So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.”}
[Surah al-Zalzala: 7–8].
As for anyone who believes that His favoring the believers with guidance rather than the disbelievers constitutes injustice on His part, this is ignorance for two reasons.
The first is that this is an act of grace [from Him] (1), as He, Most High, says:
{“Rather, Allah has conferred favor upon you by guiding you to faith, if you are truthful.”}
[Surah al-Hujurāt: 17].
And as the prophets said:
{“We are only human beings like you, but Allah confers His favor upon whomever He wills among His servants.”}
[Surah Ibrāhīm: 11].
He, Most High, also says:
{“Thus We have tested some of them through others, so that they might say, ‘Are these the ones whom Allah has favored from among us?’ Does Allah not know best those who are grateful?}
[Surah al-Anām: 53].
Thus, singling out one person for faith is like singling out another for greater knowledge, strength, health, beauty (2), or wealth. He, Most High, says:
{“Is it they who distribute your Lord’s mercy? It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and raised some of them above others in rank, so that some may take others into service.”}
[Surah al-Zukhruf: 32].
When He singles out one of two people for strength and a constitution that fully assimilates wholesome nourishment, He also singles him out for the corresponding health [and well-being] (3). But if (4) He does not grant the other the same (5), he has less of it and consequently suffers weakness and illness.
