Minhaj as-SunnahIbn Taimiya

They reported that the Bazīghiyya say (1): Jaʿfar [ibn] Muhammad is Allah (2), that he is not the one who is seen, and that he is made to appear to people (3) in this form. They also claimed that

(1) The phrase “that they say” is absent from (B) and (A). (B) alone reads “al-Bazhiyya,” which is a corruption. (N) and (M) read “al-Rab‘iyya,” which is likewise a corruption. (2) (N) and (M) read: “They say concerning Abū Ja‘far Muhammad: He is Allah.” (3) (Ayn) reads: “He resembles people,” which is a corruption. (N) and *al-Maqālāt*, 1/78, read: “He assumed a likeness for people.” Al-Maqrīzī’s *al-Khitat*, 2/352, reads: “He assumed a likeness before people.”
