Sharḥ Riyāḍ al-ṢāliḥīnIbn al-'Uthaymin

and failing to safeguard one’s chastity are all among the causes of ruin, misery, and affliction. It is authentically reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “I have not left behind me any trial more harmful to men than women,” and, “The first trial of the Children of Israel was in women.”

For this very reason our enemies—the enemies of Islam, indeed the enemies of Allah and His Messenger—whether Jews, Christians, idol-worshippers, communists, or their counterparts, followers, and lackeys, spare no effort in trying to seduce the Muslims through women. They promote immodest display, call for the mingling of women and men, and urge moral dissolution—by their tongues, their pens, and their deeds, Allah protect us—because they know that the great temptation which makes a person forget his Lord and his religion is found in women.
