is the Prophet—the term is a generic noun that includes Allah’s Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) and all the messengers before him; every one of them was a warner, may peace be upon them all.
Therefore, in the closing stage of his life a person must strive to multiply acts of obedience to Allah, especially the duties Allah has made obligatory, and he should frequently seek forgiveness and praise Allah. The Most High said to His Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him):
“When the help of Allah comes, and the victory, and you see people entering Allah’s religion in multitudes, then glorify your Lord with His praise and seek His forgiveness; indeed, He is ever-relenting.” (Surah al-Nasr 1-3)
This surah is said to have been the last surah revealed to the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him), and it contains a remarkable lesson.
We ask Allah to grant us and you a good ending and a favorable outcome, and to make the best part of our lives their final part and the best of our deeds their concluding ones.
112 – As for the hadiths, the first is the report of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) said: “Allah has left no excuse for a person whom He allows to live until sixty years of age.” Recorded by al-Bukhari.
The scholars say its meaning is that He has left him no plea, having granted him this span of life. The Arabic expression aʿdhara ar-rajul is used when a person has reached the utmost limit in presenting an excuse.
