He was sent to the Children of Israel, and Allah revealed to him the Torah, the principal scripture of the Israelites. The Prophet ﷺ then said: “I was told, ‘Look!’ So I looked toward the horizon and there was a great dark mass—in another wording, ‘it had filled the horizon.’ I was then told, ‘Look at the other horizon!’ I looked and there, too, was a vast dark mass. I was told, ‘These are your community.’”
Thus the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is the prophet with the largest following, for from the moment he was sent until the Day of Resurrection people continue to follow him—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him. His followers have filled the expanse between both horizons.
He added: “Along with them are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning and without punishment.” In other words, within this nation there are seventy thousand who will cross from the gathering place straight into Paradise, called to no account and tasting no punishment. O Allah, make us among them! Another report states that with each one of those seventy thousand there will be a further seventy thousand.
“He then rose, entered his house, and the people began to discuss who those (seventy thousand) might be. Some said, ‘Perhaps they are those who accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ’—meaning his Companions, may Allah be pleased with them. Others said, ‘Perhaps they are those who were born in Islam and never associated anything with Allah,’ and they mentioned other possibilities.” Everyone voiced what he thought.
The Prophet ﷺ came out to them, asked about the matter they were debating, and when they informed him he said: “They are those who do not perform ruqyah (therapeutic incantation) on others, nor do they ask for it, nor do they cauterize themselves, nor do they take omens; rather, they put their trust in their Lord.”
This is Muslim’s wording, and it includes the phrase “do not perform ruqyah.” The author—may Allah have mercy on him—said that the hadith is agreed upon, but he should have clarified that this exact wording is found only in Muslim, not in al-Bukhari, for the statement “do not perform ruqyah”
