upon the sheer immensity of this Throne. For that reason Allah has described it as “the Lord of the Tremendous Throne” (9:129) and “the Possessor of the Glorious Throne” (85:15), attributing to it glory, grandeur, and nobility. Over this very Throne the Almighty rose; Allah is above the Throne, and the Throne is above every created thing. The kursi (Footstool)—minute in comparison with the Throne—still extends over the heavens and the earth, as Allah says: “His Footstool encompasses the heavens and the earth” (2:255).
You are therefore obliged to believe that Allah is above all things, and that, in relation to Him, everything else is as nothing. Exalted and Majestic is He: neither intellect nor imagination can encompass Him. Even eyesight—when it beholds Allah, for the believers will behold Him in Paradise—cannot grasp or encompass Him, as He says: “Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives all vision” (6:103). His rank is supremely high and exalted; you must believe in Allah in this majestic manner so that you may worship Him as He truly deserves to be worshipped.
Part of faith in Allah is to affirm that His knowledge encompasses all things: He knows the treachery of the eyes and what hearts conceal; He knows whatever is in the heavens and on the earth, whether great or small, manifest or subtle. “Indeed, nothing whatsoever on earth or in the heavens is hidden from Allah” (3:5).
Likewise, you must believe that Allah is capable of all things: whenever He wills a matter, He merely says to it “Be!” and it is—whatever that matter may be. Consider the creation and resurrection of humankind: people number in the millions, known only to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic—yet Allah has said
