Yet he mentions no sin, but instead refers them to Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). This is an immense honour for the Messenger of Allah: four prophets apologise by recalling what they once did, while one offers no apology at all, yet considers Muhammad more deserving than himself. They therefore come to the Messenger of Allah, who accepts the task. He sits beneath the Throne, and Allah inspires him with praises and glorifications that He has granted to no one before him. Then it is said to him: “Raise your head; speak and you will be heard; ask and you will be given; intercede and your intercession will be accepted.” He intercedes, saying, “My Lord, my community, my community!” Allah accepts his intercession and says to him: “Lead your community through the right-most gate of Paradise; the rest of humanity will enter by the remaining gates.” This is clear proof that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) is the noblest of the messengers, and the messengers are the best of creation, as the Almighty says: “Whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger will be with those to whom Allah has shown favour—the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs, and the righteous” (Q 4:69). These are the four classes that form the elite of creation, and the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, is the foremost of them. Allah alone grants success.
1865 – Ibn ʿAbbās reported: Abraham, peace be upon him, brought the mother of Ishmael along with her nursing son Ishmael and set her down at the Sacred House, on the ledge above Zamzam at the upper end of the Mosque. In those days there was no one in Mecca, nor was there any water. He left them there and placed beside them a leather pouch of dates and a waterskin of water.
