He will answer, ‘My Lord is angry today with an anger the like of which He has never shown before and will never show again. I told three lies. I am concerned only with myself, myself, myself. Go to someone else—go to Moses.’

They will then go to Moses and say, ‘O Moses, you are the Messenger of Allah; Allah distinguished you above all people by entrusting you with His messages and by speaking to you directly. Intercede with your Lord for us—do you not see the predicament we are in and what has overtaken us?’

He will reply, ‘My Lord is angry today with an anger unlike any He has shown before and will never show again. I killed a soul I was not commanded to kill. I am concerned only with myself, myself, myself. Go to someone else—go to Jesus.’

So they will go to Jesus and say, ‘O Jesus, you are the Messenger of Allah, His word which He cast into Mary, a spirit from Him, and you spoke to the people in the cradle. Intercede with your Lord for us—do you not see what we are enduring and what has befallen us?’

He will say, ‘My Lord is angry today with an anger unlike any He has shown before and will never show again.’ He will mention no sin. ‘I am concerned only with myself, myself, myself. Go to someone else—go to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).’

They will then come to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)—in another narration: they will come to me—and they will say, ‘O Muhammad, you are the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets; Allah has forgiven you your past and future sins. Intercede with your Lord for us—do you not see the state we are in and what has overtaken us?’

I will set off, come beneath the Throne, and fall prostrate before my Lord. Then Allah will inspire me with praises and sublime words of glorification such as He has not granted to anyone before me. Then
