1840 – Abu Hurayrah also reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Allah marvels at people who will enter Paradise in chains.” Both reports are collected by al-Bukhari. The meaning is that they are first taken captive and bound, then they accept Islam and consequently enter Paradise.
[Commentary]
These hadiths belong to the section of concise, miscellaneous narrations, and we have already spoken about many of them. Here are four traditions from Abu Hurayrah—may Allah be pleased with him. He heard the Prophet ﷺ say: “Between the two blasts of the Trumpet there are forty,” referring to the blowing of the Trumpet. The Trumpet is entrusted to an angel from among the angels called Israfil. He will blow it the first time, and people will be seized with terror at its overwhelming sound and severity; then they will all swoon—meaning they will die—just as Allah the Exalted says: “On the Day the Trumpet is blown, everyone in the heavens and everyone on the earth will be seized with fright, except whomever Allah wills, and all will come before Him humbled” [Q 27:87]; and He says: “And the Trumpet will be blown, whereupon everyone in the heavens and everyone on the earth will fall unconscious, except whomever Allah wills; then it will be blown a second time, and, behold, they will be standing, looking on” [Q 39:68].
The first blast thus brings about alarm and unconsciousness—that is, death and annihilation—while the second brings about resurrection: “and, behold, they will be standing, looking on.” They will rise from their graves, looking around to see what has taken place. Before that, Allah—glorified be He—will send down upon them a dense rain, as thick as human semen, and they will sprout in their graves like a seed carried along by a torrential flood, meaning a single grain
