—the vilest nation among the nations: a people of betrayal and perfidy who respect neither covenant nor pledge and are unworthy of trust in anything. Before the Day of Resurrection they will fight the Muslims—mark well the word “Muslims.” The Muslims and the Jews will engage in combat, and Allah will grant the Muslims an exalted victory. A Jew will hide behind a rock or a tree, yet the rock or the tree, by Allah’s command—He who makes all things speak—will declare: “O Muslim, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him.” Stones will speak, and trees will speak. Why? Because the battle is between Muslims and Jews.

As for a clash between Arabs and Jews, Allah alone knows who will prevail, for whoever fights the Jews on the basis of Arab nationalism is driven by tribal zeal, not by devotion to Allah, and such a person cannot be granted victory so long as his motive is Arabism rather than religion and Islam—unless Allah wills otherwise. But if we fight them—that is, the Jews—for the sake of Islam while we are truly upon Islam, then, by Allah’s permission, we will overcome them; even the rocks and the trees will speak in our favor and against the Jews. So long as the matter is mere chauvinism and Arab nationalism, however, there is no guarantee of victory whatsoever. For this reason the Arabs can never find solid footing on that foundation—the foundation of Arabism. The proof lies in present reality: they have ground and kneaded that cause yet gained nothing; on the contrary, the great calamities that the Jews have inflicted upon the Arabs are immense—they have occupied their lands, besieged them, and harmed them. Had the fighting been for the sake of Islam and in the name of the Muslims, the Jews would never have found a foothold. But, out of the Arabs’ ignorance, they continue to fight the Jews
