Chapter: The Prohibition of Using Gold or Silver Vessels for Eating, Drinking, Purification, and All Other Forms of Use
1795 – Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, reported that the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Whoever drinks from a silver vessel is only pouring the fire of Hell into his stomach.” Agreed upon. Muslim’s version adds: “Indeed, whoever eats or drinks from a vessel of silver or gold….”
1796 – Hudhayfa, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade us to wear silk and brocade and to drink from vessels of gold and silver. He said, ‘They are for them in this world, and they are for you in the Hereafter.’” Agreed upon. In another narration found in the two Ṣaḥīḥs, Hudhayfa said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: ‘Do not wear silk or brocade; do not drink from vessels of gold and silver; and do not eat from plates made of them.’”
