fragrance on a regular basis, for it is a sign of a wholesome servant: good things are for good people and good people for good things, and Allah is Good and accepts only what is good. If perfume is offered to you, then do not refuse it, for the Prophet ﷺ never declined a fragrance—especially when it is like the rayḥān he described: light to carry and pleasant to smell, bringing you no harm at all.
However, if you fear that the one who presents the perfume will later talk about it in gatherings, remind you of his favor, or say, “I gave you such-and-such and this is my reward,” seeking thereby to make use of you because of his gift, then in that case do not accept it; his boastfulness and harm would annul his reward. But if you are sure that none of this will happen, it is better not to turn the gift down. Allah is the One who grants success.
