Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Do not leave a fire burning in your houses when you go to sleep.” Agreed upon.
-
Abu Mūsā al-Ashʿarī (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “One night a house in Madinah caught fire and its occupants perished. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed of what had happened, he said, ‘This fire is an enemy to you; so when you retire to sleep, extinguish it.’” Agreed upon.
-
Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Cover the vessels, fasten the waterskins, close the doors, and put out the lamps, for Satan does not untie a waterskin, open a door, or uncover a vessel. If one of you can do no more than place a stick across his vessel while mentioning the name of Allah, then let him do so, for the fuwaysiqa—that is, the mouse—may set the people of a house on fire.” Narrated by Muslim. (Fuwaysiqa: the mouse; tuḍrim means to ignite/burn.)
