1649 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “None of you should walk in a single sandal; let him either put them both on or take them both off.” In another narration: “or let him go barefoot with both feet.” Agreed upon.
1650 – He also said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declare, “If the strap of one of your sandals breaks, do not walk in the other until you have repaired it.” Narrated by Muslim.
1651 – Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade a man to put on his sandals while standing. Narrated by Abū Dāwūd with a sound chain.
[Commentary]
These ḥadiths deal with footwear and show the undesirability of wearing a sandal on only one foot or a khuff on only one foot. Rather, he must either leave them both off—that is, not wear anything on either foot
