For this reason Allah has enjoined concern for them in His Book and, in many verses, has urged compassion toward them. It is therefore unlawful for anyone to consume an orphan’s wealth unjustly, for Allah the Exalted says, “Indeed, those who consume the property of orphans wrongfully are only swallowing fire into their bellies, and they will burn in a Blazing Flame” (Q 4:10).
Yet some people—may Allah protect us—lose a brother who leaves behind little children; they then take charge of the estate but delay its distribution, keeping it for themselves and handling it without right or benefit to the orphans. If lending it to someone else is forbidden, then it is even more forbidden for you to borrow it yourself.
Some guardians—may Allah protect us—dare to borrow the orphan’s money for their own use, investing it so that the gains and profits accrue to them while the orphan’s capital gains nothing. Yet Allah says, “Do not approach the orphan’s property except in the manner that is best.” Therefore, whenever you see
