I have not seen anyone respond to me.’ He then grows weary and abandons supplication. This stems from human ignorance, for Allah does not withhold what you have asked of Him except out of wisdom, or because some impediment prevents the prayer from being answered. Therefore, when you call upon Allah, do so while letting hope outweigh despair until He brings about what you seek. If Allah grants you what you requested, that is the goal achieved; and if He does not, He wards off from you a greater affliction of which you are unaware, or He stores the reward for you until the Day of Resurrection. So do not despair or become weary. Keep invoking Him, for supplication in itself is worship—why, then, would you not do it in abundance? In fact, do it even more, whether Allah answers immediately or not, and do not grow tired or entertain ill thoughts about Allah, for Allah is All-Wise. He says, “It may be that you dislike something while it is good for you, and it may be that you love something while it is bad for you” (Quran 2:216). Allah alone grants success.
1500 – Abu Umamah reported that it was said to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, “Which supplication is most likely to be heard?” He replied, “In the last part of the night and after the prescribed prayers.” Al-Tirmidhi recorded this hadith and said, “A hasan hadith.”
1501 – Ubadah ibn al-Samit reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No Muslim on earth calls upon Allah with any invocation but that Allah grants it to him or averts from him an evil of equal measure, so long as he does not ask for something sinful or for the severing of family ties.” A man in the gathering said, “Then we shall make many supplications!” He replied, “Allah is even more.”
