As for the phrase “Subḥān Allāh wa-bi-ḥamdih” (Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him), whoever says it one hundred times will have his sins wiped away, even if they are as plentiful as the foam of the sea. Say this invocation at the close of the day so that the sins committed during the day may be erased. Therefore seize the opportunity, my brother—seize it! Life is passing and will not return; whatever portion of your life has gone by will never come back to you. These works are light and beneficial: their reward is immense while the effort they require is small. We ask Allah to help us and you to remember Him, to thank Him, and to worship Him in the best manner.
1411 – Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever says, ‘Lā ilāha illā Allāh waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-ḥamd, wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr’ ten times is like one who has freed four slaves from among the descendants of Ishmael.” Agreed upon.
1412 – Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me, “Shall I tell you the words most beloved to Allah? The words most beloved to Allah are: ‘Subḥān Allāh wa-bi-ḥamdih’ (Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him).” Related by Muslim.
1413 – Abu Mālik al-Ashʿari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Purification is half of faith; ‘al-ḥamdu lillāh’ (praise be to Allah) fills the scale, and ‘Subḥān Allāh’ and ‘al-ḥamdu lillāh’ together fill—or each of them fills—what is between the heavens and the earth.” Related by Muslim.
