Sharḥ Riyāḍ al-ṢāliḥīnIbn al-'Uthaymin

1401 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said: “Do not turn my grave into a festival. Instead, invoke blessings upon me, for your blessings reach me wherever you may be.” Reported by Abū Dāwūd with a sound chain of transmission.

1402 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) also reported that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said: “Whenever someone greets me with peace, Allah restores my soul to me so that I may return his greeting.” Reported by Abū Dāwūd with a sound chain.

1403 – ʿAlī (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said: “The miser is the one in whose presence I am mentioned and he does not invoke blessings upon me.” Reported by al-Tirmidhī, who graded it “good and sound.”

1404 – Fadālah ibn ʿUbayd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, heard a man supplicating in his prayer without glorifying Allah Most High or invoking blessings upon the Prophet, ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said, “This man has been hasty.” He then called him—and, according to another wording, called someone else—and said: “When any one of you performs the prayer, let him begin by praising his Lord, the Exalted, and extolling Him; then let him invoke blessings upon the Prophet, ﷺ; after that he may ask for whatever he wishes.” Reported by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī, who both declared it “good and sound.”

[Commentary]
These four ḥadiths likewise direct us to send blessings upon the Prophet, ﷺ, and they emphasize the excellence of doing so. Among them is the narration of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) in which the Prophet, ﷺ, said, “Do not turn…"
