Chapter on the Excellence of Manumission
Allah the Exalted says: “Yet he has not attempted the arduous ascent; and what will make you comprehend what the arduous ascent is? It is the freeing of a slave.”
1358 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “Whoever sets free a Muslim slave, Allah will release—limb for limb—a corresponding limb of that person from the Fire, even his private parts for the slave’s private parts.” Agreed upon.
1359 – Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, which deed is best?” He replied, “Believing in Allah and striving in His cause.” I then asked, “Which slave is best to set free?” He answered, “The one most precious to his owner and the highest in price.” Agreed upon.
