Abu Dawud with a good chain of transmission.
1346 – ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “The return journey is like the expedition.” Reported by Abu Dawud with a good chain.
(The term al-qaflah means the act of returning—specifically, the return from a campaign after it is over—and the meaning is that a person is rewarded for that return just as he was for the expedition itself.)
1347 – al-Sāʾib ibn Yazīd (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “When the Prophet ﷺ came back from the expedition to Tabuk, the people went out to receive him, and I joined the boys in welcoming him at Thaniyyat al-Wadāʿ.” Reported by Abu Dawud with a sound chain in these very words; al-Bukhari also narrated it, saying, “We went out with the boys to meet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Thaniyyat al-Wadāʿ.”
1348 – Abū Umāmah (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever does not go forth, equip a fighter, or look after a fighter’s family with goodness, Allah will strike him with a calamity before the Day of Resurrection.” Reported by Abu Dawud with a sound chain.
1349 – Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Strive against the polytheists with your wealth, your lives, and your tongues.” Reported by Abu Dawud with a sound chain.
