participates by providing a mount is rewarded for that mount in full, as the Prophet ﷺ said, “Goodness remains tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection.” The “horses” intended here are the war-horses used for jihad, for he himself explained that the goodness refers to “reward and booty,” something specific to mounts employed in jihad. Yet the hadith may also be taken in a general sense—namely, that every horse, whether actually ridden in combat or not, carries this blessing.
Another illustration: a man once brought a bridled she-camel to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “Messenger of Allah, I dedicate this in the path of Allah.” The Prophet informed him that on the Day of Resurrection Allah would prepare for him 700 bridled she-camels, because Allah multiplies a good deed tenfold, up to 700 times, and even many times beyond that.
Among the various forms of striving in Allah’s cause is helping with projectiles—that is, shooting. For this reason the Prophet ﷺ once delivered a sermon on the verse, “And prepare against them whatever force you can” (Qur’an 8:60), proclaiming: “Truly, force is shooting! Truly, force is shooting! Truly, force is shooting!” Shooting, of course, differs with the era. In the Prophet’s time it meant loosing arrows from a bow; in our time it includes launching bombs, rockets, and similar weapons, for every age has its own means of projectile warfare.
We ask Allah to make us among those who strive in His path with both wealth and life; He is capable of all things.
