in striving along His path—against our own selves and against His enemies. He is over all things powerful.
1295 – On his authority it is reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “No one who is wounded in the cause of Allah will come on the Day of Resurrection except with his wound still bleeding; its color will be that of blood, but its scent will be that of musk.” Agreed upon.
1296 – Muʿādh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Any Muslim man who fights in the cause of Allah for no more than the interval of a camel’s milking (fawāq nāqah) is guaranteed Paradise. And whoever is cut or suffers an injury in the cause of Allah will arrive on the Day of Resurrection with it flowing more copiously than ever—its color saffron, its fragrance like musk.” Narrated by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī, who declared it ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ.
1297 – Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man from the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a mountain ravine where a trickle of sweet water ran. It pleased him, and he said, “If only I could leave the people and stay in this ravine—but I shall not do so until I ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” He mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said, “Do not do that, for a single moment of one of you standing in Allah’s path is better than seventy years of praying in his own house. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you and admit you to Paradise? Go forth in the cause of Allah! Whoever fights in the cause of Allah for the span of a camel’s milking is guaranteed Paradise.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who graded it ḥasan.
