Chapter: Urging the performance of the Witr prayer, clarifying that it is a confirmed Sunnah, and explaining its time.

1132 — ʿAlī (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “Witr is not an obligatory concluding prayer like the prescribed prayers; rather, it is a Sunnah—the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, ‘Allah is One and He loves the odd-numbered, so observe Witr, O people of the Qur’an.’” Reported by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī, who graded it sound (ḥasan).

1133 — ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ observed Witr during every part of the night—at its beginning, its middle, and its end—yet his final Witr concluded at the pre-dawn time (sahar).” Agreed upon.
